“Lifting Spirits…. Building Dreams”
THE SCOTT MURRAY FOUNDATION
The Scott Murray Foundation was created as a bridge between wishful thinking and dream building, to help those in need, in particular, children. Living under the motto of “Lifting Spirits… Building Dreams”, the foundation’s goal is to assist young people. Whether physically sick, emotionally tested, or, financially limited, the foundation attempts to bridge the gap between dreams and reality. Established in 1995, it focuses on education, promotes self esteem, self discipline and self control. So, whether trying to assist a youngster battling childhood cancer, a boy or girl living in an intolerable environment, or assisting a physically or medically challenged child, The Scott Murray Foundation is there, in hopes of making a difference, by “lifting spirits… building dreams”.
SCOTT’S KIDS
Many children find themselves without a good role model, a mentor, or, a positive example. This can often create a feeling of helplessness, possibly frustration, or, lack of direction. Unfortunately, boys and girls can’t choose their parents, but, a lack of parental guidance can be overcome if a child is lucky enough to be teamed with a solid mentor and role model, who can teach the importance of making good decisions, being accountable, and establishing balance in your life. That’s where the “Scott’s Kids” program came in. Initially created by Scott in 1990 in conjunction with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters agencies in north Texas and NBC television, Dallas/Fort Worth, the weekly TV segment attempted to match youngsters from single parent families with a big brother or sister. Each program dealt with issues of the day and allowed children an opportunity to go places and experience things they’d never been a part of. “Scott’s Kids” received first place honors in the media/journalism awards category and was honored nationally by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America.
